He said that last year‚ the annual budget of PBC was two billion one hundred fifty five million rupees which was reduced during current year to two billion one hundred one million rupees instead of increasing.
The Director General said that PBC had presented some proposals to the National Assembly's Standing Committee for Information and Broadcasting‚ which have been approved. However‚ now it is up to the Parliament to decide about their final sanction. He said that approval of these proposals will also help in improving the professional efficiency of the employees of Radio Pakistan.
The PBC Director General said that Radio Pakistan is facing an acute shortage of professional staff and new recruitment is being done transparently and strictly on merit under the prescribed rules and regulations to overcome this shortage. He expressed hope that the political leadership and the people of the country would not let Radio Pakistan shut down.
He said that the PBC is the only institution whose website is bilingual and fifteen channels are being aired through website and programs are also being live-streamed.
Mr. Murtaza Solangi said that we have introduced toll free number in the United States to facilitate our listeners there. He said that PBC library has a superb collection of thirty-five lakh memorable voices which are being digitalized at a cost of one hundred and thirty million rupees.
The PBC DG said that PBC has sent a proposal to a committee headed by Khurshid Shah for the regularization of six hundred and sixty one contractual employees of all categories. He said that the issue will be settled as soon as the Finance and Establishment divisions release funds.
